Hike Hunt Free Printable

We’ve all been there before – the optimistic parent that packs up a million snacks, fills water bottles, then sunscreens everyone to a sheen before hitting the trail with high hopes of a fun family outing.

38 steps into the journey it begins…from the littlest adventurer you hear “I’m tired! How much longer?!”

You bribe, you coach, you carry. Why is it that the little people we’re raising will bounce off the walls of our home and race through the halls but once you give them the wide-open space of a hiking trail they suddenly have lead legs?

I’ve found a helpful incentive – scavenger hunts!

I created this printable and we took it on our most recent hike at Buffalo Park. I tried to include things I’ve spotted all over Northern Arizona, and we found a good number on our first adventure. I laminated our sheets, punched a hole through the top, and hooked it to a lanyard for the boys to wear. They marked off items with a dry-erase marker and I have to say – were more engaged and invested in the hike than ever!
