Northern AZ + October = A Match Made in the Mountains

0

Fall is in the air and you know what that means? Lots of fun “Oktobery” stuff to do. This is truly my favorite time of year here in the mountains of Northern Arizona. The weather, the changing leaves, and all the great events going on. So I’m going to give you the rundown on some of my favorites, all of which are family friendly.

Oktoberfest at Wheeler Park on Saturday, October 6th

My family and I have been attending this every single year since we moved here 8 years ago. What I love about the Flagstaff Oktoberfest is that I can bring my kids, because they have the best kids area. $10 for a wristband gets your kiddo access to a bunch of bounce houses and obstacle course inflatables. And don’t miss the root beer float garden.

Every year we go, we snag a spot on the lawn alongside ALL the other many families who attend. Then grab a couple of tasty craft beers and munch on some yummy brats from none other than Satchmo’s BBQ. Don’t miss out on the hot pretzels, kettle corn, and all the other awesome food vendors out there all day long. And you really can’t beat the live music all day and the funny contests for a $7 entrance fee, and no cost for kids 12 and under. Really entertaining for the whole family. So if you haven’t gone before, give it a try this year. You won’t regret it.

The Arboretum of Flagstaff Pumpkin Carving at Lumberyard and Pumpkin Walk

Every year the Arboretum puts on the pumpkin walk the last weekend of October. Creatively carved and lit up Jack-o’-lanterns line the pathways through the Arb so bring your flashlights to see your way around in the dark. They have so much other stuff going on too, like hay rides, a big campfire to roast marshmallows, hay maze and face painting.

Movies at the Orpheum Theater

I’m a sucker for live music, and if you’ve read any of my previous blog posts, you’d probably know that. So I love the Orpheum for the glorious music that comes through there, but also for the movie nights.
